My friend Brett has asked me to make a quilt as a gift for his mother, who is suffering from Alzheimer's. I know her only through Brett's words, but he's always spoken so warmly of her that I was pleased to be asked and eager to do it. (Can't help but think of my own grandmother, who has Alzheimer's, and owns several quilts of mine already.)
I'm using fabrics from Heather Bailey's Pop Garden and Bijoux lines, as well as a smattering of prints from my stash. It'll be a simple lap quilt, letting the gorgeous fabrics do the work that I normally expect intricate piecing to carry.
Here's a quick sketch of the layout:

Your 'sketched' layout is so professional - how did you do that?

Thanks. I generally use QuiltPro to plan a quilt so that I'll have some idea of what kind of yardage I'll need. I think most quilting software lets you export pictures of a project -- that's what I did in this case.
