We have a chair that's been in my husband's family for some time. It has a funky emblem on its back, a crowned snake flanked by a hammer and some pliers. It used to be covered in a dusty old silk damask. I thought it was time to bring in some whimsy. Because that is what I do. I am a bringer...of whimsy.
Here's a close-up of the motif. Recognize it? Snake-Builders' Union? Dentists by Appointment to the Royal House of Boomslang? Loyal International Brotherhood of Oh, Shit There's a Snake in My Toolbox?
And a look at the chair's seat. I used two of Erin Michael's prints from Lush, some coordinating solids, an Amy Butler — one of my all-time favorite prints, Wall Flower from Lotus — and an Anna Maria Horner print. The patches are banded in natural linen.
